A 4 day Garden Route Tour exploring and experiencing the highlights of South Africa's most popular and scenic holiday route.
History, culture, gorgeous scenery and good food & wine are all offered in a delightful mixture on this 4 day Garden Route Tour experience. From Cape Town you'll travel up the famous Garden Route to Oudtshoorn, with its caves, cheetahs and ostriches. Then you'll travel from George to South Africa's favourite town, Knysna, on a steam train!
Day 1: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn
You leave Cape Town at 9am and travel through Sir Lowry’s Pass, via Elgin to Swellendam. Explore this historical town and the Drotsdy Museum before enjoying a light lunch (not included) in Barrydale. Late afternoon takes you to Oudtshoorn, where you have dinner and spend the night at Rosenhof Country lodge or the Queens Hotel.

The Rosenhof Country House in Oudtshoorn is a carefully restored Victorian home surrounded by immaculate gardens with water features, roses, herbs and sculpted trees. With wide verandas, lush grass and plenty of tree cover, Rosenhof is a tranquil retreat in this typically hot area.
Standard accommodation: Queens Hotel
The Queen's Hotel in Oudtshoorn has been renovated to recapture its colonial past. The finest materials were used in the renovations, from the marble and antique furniture collection in the foyer, to the gold-plated bedroom door handles. The water features provide welcome relief after a day in the African sun. The Queen's Hotel is situated next to the Ostrich Museum, and in close proximity to a multitude of restaurants, curio and coffee shops.

Day 2: Oudtshoorn Enjoy a morning tour of the Cango Caves and visit the Cango Cheetah & Crocodile Ranch. Lunch is at Highgate Ostrich Farm (not included in cost) where you also enjoy a tour and an optional ostrich ride. Dinner and spend the night at Rosenhof Country Lodge or the Queens Hotel.

Day 3: Oudtshoorn – Knysna
Continue through the magnificent Outeniqua Pass to George where you board the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe for one of the world's most picturesque train rides. You arrive in Knysna at lunchtime (not included in the cost) and thereafter board the John Benn Ferry for a cruise on the Knysna Lagoon. You overnight at Hog Hollow or Lairds Lodge on a dinner and breakfast basis.

Hog Hollow Country Lodge is situated in a private nature reserve with views of the surrounding valleys and Tsitsikamma Mountains. The main house and 12 charming cottages sit alongside a central dam, creating a private oasis on the edge of an indigenous forest. Personalised, friendly service is a Hog Hollow trademark.

Day 4: Plettenberg Bay – Cape Town Early morning takes you to the Tsitsikamma National Park. You take a hike to Storms River Mouth and take in the view of the Indian Ocean from the suspension bridge. Return to Knysna for lunch. Enjoy lunch (not included in cost) before returning to Cape Town via the N2. For passengers continuing to Port Elizabeth, a driver will transfer you there in the late afternoon. (There is an additional cost for transfer to Port Elizabeth.)
