DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Cape Town, South Africa
After your arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be welcomed by your Go2Africa representative and assisted with your car rental at the airport. From here, you’ll travel to the Commodore Hotel at the V&A Waterfront (20min away) in Cape Town where you’ll stay for 4 nights on a bed & breakfast basis. The Commodore Hotel, located at the highest point on Cape Town's historic V&A Waterfront, offers views of Table Mountain, Signal Hill, Granger Bay, Table Bay and Robben Island. For an afternoon excursion, we recommend that your introduction to the city of Cape Town be a cable car ride up Table Mountain.

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Commodore

Day 10: George, South Africa
A day off! We highly recommend that you take a trip up to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo, where you will experience genuine South African hospitality. Or you can visit a local working Ostrich Farm, the world-renowned Cango Caves to see the spectacular stalactite & stalagmite formations, and the Cango Wildlife Range.

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Fancourt Hotel

Day 11: Knysna, South Africa
Travel to Knysna to enjoy the afternoon at your own leisure. This vibrant and artistic town is renowned for its oysters, mussels, breathtaking lagoon and sea views. Visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve, enjoy a ferry-ride across the estuary, indulge in a fresh seafood lunch under the milkwood trees. Journey on the Outeniqua Steam Train along the beautiful coastal railway line from George to Wilderness / Knysna and back.

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Protea Hotel - Knysna Quays

Day 12: Knysna, South Africa
Today you’ll golf at Pezula Golf Course on the Sparrebosch Clifftop Estate in Knysna. Peluza golf course is spectacularly located on the East head of Knysna, overlooking the Indian Ocean, the Knysna lagoon and the Outeniqua Mountain range. The course has been compared to Gleneagles in the Scottish highlands (with its rolling fairways, fynbos and eyebrow bunkers) and Pebble Beach on the Monterey coastline. However, this kind of terrain makes it very difficult to walk the course. The par 4 14th is particularly challenging; it requires you to lay-up before firing at the pin. The green is completely surrounded by bunkers, so careful not to overshoot out-of-bounds!

Day 13: Port Elizabeth, South Africa
Travel up the South-East coast to Port Elizabeth Airport for your final night in South Africa. A visit to Tstistikamma Nature Reserve, ‘Place of Many & Sparkling Waters’, en route to Port Elizabeth is recommended, or you can golf at Plettenberg Bay Country Club / Goose Valley Golf Estate also en route to Port Elizabeth.

Day 14: Cape Town, South Africa
Today, you say good-bye to your golf safari and catch a flight from Port Elizabeth back to Cape Town / Johannesburg.

Optional Extensions from Port Elizabeth

Game Viewing Safari in the Kruger Park / Kwandwe Game Reserve / Addo National Park / Shamwari Game Reserve / Sun City / Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe / Golfing in KwaZulu Natal. Please contact your Go2Africa Consultant should you require further information about these services and extensions.

Day 2: Cape Town, South Africa
Today you’ll golf at Steenberg Golf Club, a champion course situated on the exclusive Steenberg Wine Estate and designed by Peter Matkovichy. This golf course takes advantage of its natural features and hazards that golfers have to navigate. Some of these features include large waste bunkers, running creeks, water hazards and excellent bent greens. The afternoon is spent at your leisure at the V&A Waterfront and we strongly recommend that you visit either Robben Island or the Two Oceans Aquarium, depending on whether you’d prefer a cultural or underwater experience!

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Commodore

Day 3: Cape Town, South Africa
Your 18-hole round of golf today is at Clovelly Country Club, en route to Cape Point, overlooking False Bay. Situated in the picturesque Clovelly valley surrounded by mountains, the golf course compliments the coastal environment and fits in perfectly with its natural sand dunes and water features. The course is well known for being in great condition all year round and features computer irrigated fairways and championship-quality greens. The rolling fairways are tight but short; making them teasingly challenging while still having birdies and par opportunities. In the afternoon, we recommend that you explore the Cape Peninsula and visit Cape Point Nature Reserve and the African penguins at Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town.

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Commodore

Day 4: Cape Town, South Africa
Today you can take a break from golf and enjoy all that Cape Town has to offer - the beaches, Robben Island, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cape Point, shopping in the V&A Waterfront, and much more!

Day 5: Stellenbosch, South Africa
Golf today is at Erinvale Golf Course - a course that was selected as the venue for the 1996 World Cup of Golf. Situated at the foot of the Hottentots Holland and Helderberg Mountains in Somerset West this is definitely one of the best and most beautiful golf courses in South Africa. Lunch (not included in cost) at Vergelegen Wine Estate, next to the Erinvale Country Estate, is highly recommended. An alternative to Erinvale Golf Course is the brand new Jack Niklaus signature course, Pearl Valley Golf Course. At Pearl Valley, each fairway, green, bunker and water hazard has been crafted to ensure the most aesthetic and enjoyable golfing experience possible. Pearl Valley is the most recent reflection of Jack Nicklaus' dedication to layout, routing and golfing strategy. An afternoon transfer will take you to the Stellenbosch Winelands region where you can visit the Spier Wine Estate. Accommodation tonight is at the Village at Spier Hotel. This 155-bed hotel on the estate just outside Stellenbosch, in the heart of the world-renowned Cape Winelands, is an internationally renowned destination that combines village ambience & superb restaurants with the peace & tranquillity of the winelands.

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Spier Estate

Day 6: Stellenbosch, South Africa
Today you will tour the Winelands and enjoy cellar tours & wine tastings at local wine estates. You will visit Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek. The afternoon is yours to lunch at La Petite Ferme in Franschhoek; visit the Language Monument in Paarl and the Huguenot Museum in the gardens in Franschhoek.

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Spier Estate

Day 7: Stellenbosch, South Africa
Today you'll golf at Spier Country Club, on the De Zalze Estate, an enjoyable as well as challenging course. The Spier Country Club has its clubhouse situated in the wine producing cellar of the Kleine Zalze wine farm. Golfers usually take advantage of this by sinking some of South Africa’s finest wines at the 19th hole! The Spier Country Club golf course has stunning mountain views and is surrounded by vineyards, orange groves and dams. The 18-hole 6 385m layout was designed by leading golf course designer Peter Matkovich, who has created a real gem of a course.

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Spier Estate

Day 8: Hermanus, South Africa
Today you’ll travel from Stellenbosch to Hermanus, up the South-East coast (100km), to play at Arabella Golf Estate. The Arabella Golf Club championship course is situated alongside the Bot River lagoon and on the border of the Kogelberg Nature reserve near Hermanus. These provide the Links, Parklands and coastal aspects of this splendid golf course. The fairways are wide and offer a lot of space while both fairways and greens are in exceptionally good condition. Choosing a signature hole would always be tough as the 9th, 17th and the 18th all run parallel to the lagoon. However, we have chosen the 17th par 3. This hole requires a precise tee shot and if you miss the green to the right you might just find yourself on the beach!

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Marine Hermanus

Day 9: George, South Africa
Today you'll travel along the Garden Route to the Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains. 2 golf green fees are included, and you can choose which 2 courses you would like to play. Since opening in 1991, Fancourt Hotel & Country Club Estate has established itself as one of South Africa’s premier Golfing & Leisure Estates. All the courses are renowned for their amazing year round condition, and there is an emphasis on attention to detail, such as 2 18-hole Gary Player-designed golf courses; an 18-hole Links golf course; a 4th 18-hole golf course; driving range and practice greens.
