A 15-day self-drive tour of South Africa created specially for people travelling with children.
South Africa is becoming an increasingly popular family destination. This 15-day tour caters specifically for families with children, paying particular attention to keeping your little ones entertained; family-orientated accommodation; and routings designed for minimal driving time and maximum enjoyment!
This tour includes something for the whole family - beaches, outdoor adventure, sightseeing, water sports and wildlife viewing.
Day 1: Johannesburg, South Africa
On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, you will be met by a Go2Africa representative, and assisted at the car rental counter to collect your vehicle. Travel to the Northern suburb of Fourways to recover from the long flight. Accommodation is at the Inter-Continental Palazzo, Montecasino, a short drive away from the world famous Sandton City. Montecasino's family entertainment centre offers games and regular entertainment in the form of live interactive theatre, clowns and magicians, face painting and cartoon characters, rides suitable for all ages, rock climbing, game stalls, bumper cars, a shooting gallery and much more. Enjoy dinner at your leisure at one of the Montecasino's many restaurants.

Day 2: Sun City, South Africa
After breakfast, depart from Hartbeespoort Dam to Sun City in the North West Province. Sun City has 4 hotels and is internationally renowned as South Africa's premier holiday resort offering a multitude of attractions and activities to keep everyone occupied. The full variety of entertainment on offer ranges from slots to safaris, theatrical extravaganzas to a game arcade for children, horse riding to golf, the Valley of Waves to the Lost City and much more. Dinner is at your leisure with an array of restaurants to choose from.

Day 3: Sun City, South Africa
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before taking advantage of the numerous activities available at the complex. Kamp Kwena - the children's club offers supervised activity programmes for all young guests ranging from 2- 12 years ( in season) and 2- 14 years (out of season). Included are creative activities, swimming, outings, nature walks, bumper boats, cruises, wildlife game drives, sandcastle building, magic performances, races, mini-Olympics, sporting fun, outdoor and indoor games, trampolines, Animal World and African Adventure Mini-Golf. Facilities at Kamp Kwena include a huge selection of books, puzzles, games, toys, educational toys, cartoon network channel, playgrounds, sand-pits, slides and swings. Other attractions include an aviary with over 300 recorded bird species and Kwena Gardens Crocodile Farm, home to over 300 Nile Crocodiles. Furthermore, an aquatic theme park, the Valley of Waves offers exceptional recreational features and activities. Water World surrounds the Cabanas and offers a multitude of water sports, from jet and water-skiing to parasailing. Other activities include horseback riding, elephant back safari's, game drives, hot air ballooning and an outdoor adventure centre which offers quad biking, clay target shooting, archery and drumming.

Day 4: Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa
After departing Sun City, make your way in a northerly direction to Jaci's Safari Lodge situated in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. The reserve is situated in 75 000 hectares of 'big 5' territory, and is home to abundant game and prolific wildlife. Arrival at the lodge is in time for lunch. Children of all ages are welcome at Jaci's Safari Lodge which has a special program designed to cater for the needs of younger travellers. Children aged 7 and under are taken on a private game drive during the day, which is geared to the children’s interests and age levels. Children between 8 and 12 are allowed on the game drive with their parents, and children over 12 are welcome on the bush walks. An early dinner is provided in the dining room, and children over the age of 12 are able to enjoy an evening with their parents in the boma.
Day 5: Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa
The day begins with an early wake up call followed by a light snack before departing on an early morning game activity. Enjoy the remainder of the day relaxing by the pool or soaking up the sun in your hammock. Enjoy lunch, late afternoon high tea, and game activities followed by dinner in the dining room or boma.
Days 6-8: Knysna, South Africa
Wake up and enjoy an early morning game viewing activity followed by a hearty breakfast. After which you will return to Johannesburg for your flight to George. Upon arrival at George airport, collect your rental vehicle and make your way along the Garden Route, an area that boasts golden beaches and indigenous forests, lakes, lagoons and meandering rivers, to Knysna. Your home for the next 3 nights is beautifully set on a secluded country estate near the lagoon. Nestled amongst timeless oaks and pecan trees, the gracious old manor house forms the focal point of the lodge. Lunch and dinner are at leisure.
The following day enjoy a country breakfast, after which you are free to enjoy the many activities that Knysna and its beautiful surrounds have to offer, ranging from hiking trails to bird watching; scenic drives, mountain biking and much more. You can explore the enchanted Knysna Forest, the Featherbed Nature Reserve, the Tsistsikamma National Park or the scenic Bushbuck and Kingfisher Trails. The spectacular Sedgefield Lake district is nearby which is a must for nature lovers due to its abundance of bird life and nature trails. For dinner, you have the option of dining at one Knysna's many restaurants, before returning to your estate. After breakfastthe next day, enjoy a leisurely drive out to Plettenberg Bay, and then drive on to visit Monkeyland, a unique primate sanctuary and top eco-tourism attraction. Monkeyland offers much to capture the hearts of visitors, the walking safaris, conducted by multi-lingual game rangers, are fun, exciting and educational.

Days 9-10: Wilderness, South Africa
After enjoying breakfast, you depart for the Wilderness which is known for its vast stretches of peaceful beaches and untouched landscape. You will spend the next 2 evenings at the Wilderness Resort Hotel.

Day 11: Oudtshoorn, South Africa
After breakfast, depart for a full day of sightseeing in Oudtshoorn. Visit the famous Cango Caves. Explore the Oudtshoorn Crocodile Farm and Cheetah Land, and visit one of the local ostrich farms. You will spend the evening at Queen's Hotel, which is situated next to the world famous Ostrich Museum, and is in close proximity of a multitude of restaurants, curio and coffee shops.
Days 12-14: Cape Town, South Africa
Enjoy breakfast before setting off on your journey through George and Mosselbay, onward to Swellendam and Somerset West and finally on to Cape Town. Here you have the next 3 days to enjoy the many activities available to you in Cape Town. Climb Table Mountain or relax on the beautiful beaches. You can experience a tour to Cape Point or catch the ferry to Robben Island. Take the kids on a day trip to Ratanga Junction or drive through to Hout Bay and visit the World of Birds or Seal Island. In the evening why not enjoy a show or a ballet at the Artscape or the Baxter Theatre followed by dinner at one of the many restaurants that Cape Town has to offer? Enjoy a morning of shopping followed by lunch at the Waterfront. These are but a few of the many exciting attractions that Cape Town has to offer. Whilst you are in Cape Town you will be staying at Bantry Bay Luxury Suites, a luxury 4 star hotel with fully equipped and serviced apartments. Located conveniently close to the city centre, the V&A Waterfront, theatres, famous beaches and the famous vineyards of the Cape Wine Route.

Day 15: Cape Town, South Africa
After breakfast, enjoy your last day of shopping or sightseeing before returning your car to Cape Town International Airport.
