Spend 4 days visiting Oudtshoorn, Knysna & the Tsitsikamma Forest along the renowned Garden Route.

Embark on a short tour of some of the Western Cape's favourite spots, including the ostrich capital of Oudtshoorn.

Set off up the Garden Route and visit the interactive Knysna Elephant Sanctuary, Birds of Eden, Tsitsikamma National Park and the Cango Caves.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Visit Giant Birds in Oudtshoorn

Leave Cape Town and head through the Huguenot Tunnel on to Route 62, passing a series of diverse and incredibly beautiful landscapes on your way to Barrydale.

After stopping here for lunch, continue on towards Oudtshoorn, the "Capital" of the Little Karoo, and pay a late afternoon visit to an Ostrich farm.

Day 2: Creep Through the Cango Caves

Enjoy a morning tour of the Cango Caves. These massive, beautiful caves stretch for several miles and are deservedly one of the most popular attractions in the area.

Depart from the caves for Knysna, heading over the scenic Outeniqua Mountain Pass and through the towns of George and Wilderness along the way.

Once in Knysna, enjoy lunch at the Knysna Waterfront where you'll also have the opportunity to embark on an adventurous cruise out to the beautiful Knynsa Heads on board the Three Legs Rivercat.

With its lush green surroundings and gentle waters, Knysna is one of the Garden Route's best known travel destinations.

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Lairds Lodge Country Estate

Day 3: Get Up Close to a Knysna Elephant

Following a leisurely breakfast, pay the Knysna Elephant Sanctuary a visit. Here you will learn the sad and mystical history of Knysna's elephant population, and then have the opportunity to get up close and personal with these majestic beasts. You will be able to touch, feed and photograph them without any fencing or barriers to spoil the encounter.

After lunch, depart for Plettenberg Bay for a visit to Birds of Eden - the Garden Route's very own world-class free-flight bird sanctuary.

There is also an optional whale and dolphin experience in the sheltered, warm waters around Plettenberg Bay. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Plettenberg Bay.

Accommodation included in tour cost:
Lairds Lodge Country Estate

Day 4: See Tsitsikamma Dolphins at Play

An early start takes you to the Tsitsikamma National Park.

Known as "the place of much water", the heartland of the park stretches some 5km down to the sea, protecting an amazing array of inter-tidal life, reef and deep-sea fish. Dolphins can be sighted surfing and playing among the breakers, and it is here in this unspoilt sanctuary that the Southern Right Whale comes to breed.

Enjoy lunch before continuing on to Port Elizabeth. Once there, you will be dropped off either at the airport for your scheduled flight or at your hotel.
