Day 1: Comfort in Cape Town's Colourful CBD Park Inn Greenmarket Square is located in Greenmarket Square, right at the heart of Cape Town's vibrant CBD, and it is here that you will spend the next 3 nights.
Over the centuries this hotel has earned a reputation as a meeting place for Capetonians and travellers, and it is within walking distance of an assortment of fascinating museums, art galleries and craft shops, as well as a selection of fine restaurants.
One such establishment is the Famous Butcher's Grill, the Park Inn Greenmarket Square's own restaurant. With an alfresco terrace overlooking the hotel's bustling surrounds, the Butcher's Grill is a prime location for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Accommodation included in tour cost:
- Inn on the Square
Day 2: Walking to Freedom After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, you will make the short trip to the Cape Malay area of Bo-Kaap for the start of your Walk to Freedom tour.
With its brightly coloured houses and historic mosques, the Bo-Kaap is an area with a unique Muslim culture. After learning about this close-knit community and its contribution to South African history, you will move on to the area formely known as District Six, stopping at the fascinating District Six museum, before heading to Langa, Cape Town's oldest formal black township.
Here you'll take a stroll amidst a sea of seemingly endless shanties, chatting to the residents as you walk, before visiting a small township shop ("spaza") or tavern ("shebeen"), where you'll have the opportunity to sample traditional African sorghum beer and ginger beer.
Returning to the Park Inn Greenmarket Square at around midday gives you the opportunity to experience another of Cape Town's fine restaurants, before spending the afternoon doing whatever you please. The Famous Cigar Lounge is the perfect place to relax with a drink at the end of a long day.

Day 3: Learn to Cook, Cape Malay Style After breakfast you will return to the Bo-Kaap's steep cobbled streets for a guided walking tour through the historical heart of this picturesque area. The Cape Malay Cooking Experience includes a photo exhibition at the Bo-Kaap museum, but the undoubted highlight of this tour is being invited into a Cape Malay family home for a hands-on cooking demonstration.
You will discover recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation, while you learn to mix masala, fold samoosas and roll up rotis, before sitting back and digging in to a full course traditional meal.
An early afternoon return to your accommodation means you'll have plenty of time to continue your exploration of Cape Town and work up a hearty appetite in preparation for another fine meal.

Day 4: Pack Your Bags Enjoy your last breakfast and reflect back on the experiences of the past few days, departing the Park Inn Greenmarket Square having gained fantastic insight into the history of Cape Town and the eclectic blend of cultures that call it home.
