In the upmarket suburb of Oranjezicht, on the slopes of Table Mountain, is Cape Riviera Guesthouse. Originally an old Cape Town home, it retains the charm of the stone facade and the delicate bay windows that give you a sweeping view of the Molteno Reservoir, over the City to Table Bay.

The light interior has a casual sophistication and space in which to sit back and relax. Whether in the reading room with its large comfortable, leather chairs surrounded by shelves of books or in the traditional lounge in front of its large, ornate fireplace.

The summer months should find you around one of the two swimming pools, reclining on the pool deck overlooked by tall and ancient palm trees.

Each of the 11 rooms is individually decorated with touches of rich, jewel colours, each with its own unique features and charm.

The Standard Rooms each have a private courtyard, whereas the Superior Rooms have lovely views of the city or mountain. The Luxury Suites include a spacious sitting area and most of them have a private balcony.

Some of the en-suite rooms are equipped with a separate bath and shower, while other have only a shower.

The continental and cooked breakfasts are served in the small dining room or on the balcony overlooking the city of Cape Town below you.
