This luxury business hotel opened in August 2003 and is designed to suit the needs of the business traveller. Upon arrival at reception you are greeted by attentative receptionists with a small army of flat screen computer check-in monitors.
This setup blends in perfectly with the 21st century slick and stylish interior. Leather chairs and highly polished marble floors are punctuated by chic African artefacts on the walls. A water feature trickles through the hotel and convention centre, adding a certain Zen calm to this terminal-type building, rather different to any of the other Cape Town hotels we inspected.
The Sheraton has facilities to cater to your every whim. One phone call allows you to order anything from a new light bulb to a chicken mayo sandwich at 2 in the morning, and the television in your room even tracks the status of your order. |

Rooms are modern and sophisticated, though not particularly spacious. This is well compensated for, however, by the oversized, custom-made 'Sweet Sleeper' beds. Understated décor creates an uncluttered atmosphere, and African touches such as beaded pictures and intricately woven pillows complete the look.
Each room contains soundproof windows, block out curtains and a business desk with an ISDN line and a cordless phone to help create your own mobile office.
The exclusive Presidential Suite looks out on the city below it and has its own sauna, fireplace, surround-sound entertainment lounge, fully-serviced kitchen and 24-hour butler service. |

The Sheraton offers various dining options, the top of the list being the chic Restaurant Thirty 7. The restaurant boasts a showkitchen feature, where one can watch chefs prepare a contemporary combination of Eastern and Mediterranean food.
Besides Thirty 7, there are various coffee shops serving light lunches, a cigar bar, an exclusive guest lounge for Tower Club guests (the Tower Club is similar to a frequent flyer programme), and even a jazz bar that offers all day dining. On top of all this, you can order from these various menus any time of the day or night, so you’ll never go hungry.
If you tire of the Sheraton’s chic interior, there are always nearby Waterfront restaurants and eateries in the City Centre, where you’re bound to find food to suit your tastes. |
